Medford Crawl Space Encapsulation
Crawl spaces, being exposed to harsh weather and climate conditions, can become damp, leading to mold infestations and deteriorating structural joists and supports. Our SERVPRO crew started the mold remediation in this Medford crawl space by removing the organisms from the joists, as depicted in the Before Photo, with scraping and dry ice pellet blasting. This process prevented the introduction of more water and moisture into the enclosed space. After spraying an antimicrobial agent, we covered the ground with 6-mil thick polypropylene sheeting as a vapor barrier. We ran the plastic up the cinder block walls to encapsulate further the crawlspace—the After Photo shows the completed job, clean beams free of mold, and dry interior space. This structure is now safer, and the living quarters benefit from improved indoor air quality.
